Thursday, July 24th, 2008Sliding sinker rigs are very popular among coastal anglers for a simple reason-they are effective. The rigs allow a fish to mouth a bait without feeling the resistance of a sinker, and they increase anglers’ sensitivity to strikes versus a fixed weight between the rod tip and bait. Unfortunately for anglers fishing a variety of water depths or conditions, the slip-sinker rig’s downfall is that anglers cannot easily remove and change the weights and slides for a variety of fishing conditions without cutting their lines.
Sea Striker’s new Quik Slide line of sinker slides allows anglers to add a sliding weight to any rig without cutting the line. The Twist n’ Lock release mechanism lets anglers open the slide up, place the line inside, and lock it closed, offering all the benefits of a traditional sinker slide in an easy-on, easy-off package.
Quik Slides are available in four styles, all attached to the Twist n’ Lock slide mechanism, one featuring a stainless steel connecting link like the one found at the bottom of traditional bottom rigs, one with a #5 duo-lock snap, one with a #6 duo-lock, and one with a releasing tail loop.
The release loop model features a plastic loop with a tab on the end that will give way under a certain amount of pressure, allowing anglers to recover their rig in the event the sinker becomes snagged.
All of the Quik Slides are saltwater and braided line approved, and the Twist n’ Lock mechanism is made of durable, high-impact plastic.
