Brant, at the Ocean Isle Fishing center, reports that the king bite has been decent in 50-70′ of water. It has primarily been a morning bite, and the bite hasn’t been long lasting. The menhaden continue to be scarce. The low amount of bait has been an oddity this year.
Lots of flounder were caught this past week in Tubbs Inlet. This is also a little odd because usually they have moved out to the nearshore reefs by now.
Reds and trout continue to bite at the Little River jetties.
They have been picking up more dolphin this week. The king trips within 15 miles are steadily producing 1-2 fish per trip.
Overall, the fishing is exactly one month behind where is should be at this time.

Hunter, at the Rod and Reel Shop, reports a good weekend for offshore fishing with mahi and king mackerel, especially in the tower area. There were only a few reports of bottom fishing due to the seas this week. Surf fishing has produced the most variety with whiting, pompano, bluefish, drum, croakers, and even a few flounder and trout. Flounder fishing is still decent in the rivers and inlets as well.

Will, at Ocean Isle Beach Pier, reports that hot temperatures have slowed the fishing but mostly it has slowed the anglers. Those that are fishing are catching flounder, whiting, and a few trout. Spanish mackerel and bluefish are occasionally showing around the pier as well.
