QUICK FACTS

Surf Fishing Participants only compete against other Surf Fishing Participants
Pier Fishing Participants only compete against other Pier Fishing Participants
No participant can enter both the Surf Division and the Pier Division–you can only enter one division.

Surf Categories: Bluefish, Trout, Black Drum, and Sea Mullet
Pier Categories: Bluefish, Red Drum, Black Drum, and Sea Mullet

New Pier Rule: No pin-rigging (no anchor rods).

Entry Fee: $75 per angler by October 28; $85 per angler after October 28 (one entry fee gets you in all four categories except Surf Red Drum TWT and Pier Trout TWT)
Surf Red Drum TWT: $25 per angler (Surf Red Drum TWT is optional–it is offered as another way for tournament participants to win money)
Pier Trout TWT: $25 per angler (Pier Trout TWT is optional–it is offered as another way for tournament participants to win money)
Over $16,000 in cash and prizes (based on 200 entries in the Surf division and 100 entries in the Pier division)

Surf Boundaries: Must fish from a Topsail Island beach.
Pier Fishing Boundaries: Must fish from a Topsail Island pier.
Four Weigh-in Locations: Surf City Pier, East Coast Sports, Jolly Roger Pier, and Seaview Pier.
Tournament Headquarters: under the big tent in the East Coast Sports parking lot

Live Updates: There are three updates throughout the tournament weekend: Saturday at 10:00 am;  Saturday at 8:00 pm; and Sunday at 9:00 am. Updates will be posted in two places:

  • Facebook: Latest updates will be posted to the top of our feed on the Fisherman’s Post Facebook page.
  • Weigh-In Stations: Latest updates will be posted at each weigh-in station on the tournament whiteboard.

SCHEDULE OF EVENTS

Registration: Friday, November 8, from 4:00 pm – 11:00 pm (everyone must stop by Registration/Tournament HQ to receive their tournament wrist band and have the band placed upon their wrist–no exceptions!)
Fish Time Starts: Friday, November 8, 11:59 pm
Fish Time Ends: Sunday, November 10, 12:00 noon
Awards Dinner: Sunday, November 10, from 12:00 pm – 2:00 pm at Tournament HQ (under the big tent in the East Coast Sports parking lot)
Awards Ceremony: Sunday, November 10, at 2:00 pm at Tournament HQ (under the big tent in the East Coast Sports parking lot)
Tournament Raffle: immediately following Awards Ceremony

Junior Angler: 1st–$50

* Surf/Pier Special Prize Payouts guaranteed. Each Special Prize Payout awarded to either a Surf or Pier angler–whichever angler/division weighs in the heaviest fish.


SURF RED DRUM TWT

Red Drum TWT 1st: $1700
Red Drum TWT 2nd: $1020
Red Drum TWT 3rd: $680

* Surf Red Drum TWT is voluntary, and payouts are based on 160 paid entries.


PIER TROUT TWT

Trout TWT 1st: $765
Trout TWT 2nd: $510

* Pier Trout TWT is voluntary, and payouts are based on 60 paid entries.


PIER CUP

The Pier Cup is awarded to the pier angler and the Topsail fishing pier where the heaviest leaderboard fish was weighed in. The name of the angler, the weight of the fish, and the name of the pier where the fish was caught will be engraved on the trophy.

The winning pier will retain possession of the Pier Cup until the next Topsail Surf & Pier Fishing Challenge when the Pier Cup will have to be defended.


BENEFICIARY

First Fruit Ministries serves over 20,000 hot meals, provides emergency groceries to over 5,000 households, and shelters over 24 homeless women and families annually.
