CRYSTAL COAST SURF FISHING CHALLENGE FAQs

Can we drive on the beach in Atlantic Beach?
Yes. Beach driving is allowed from October 1st through March 15. In addition, the Town of Atlantic Beach has donated 50 free beach permits for use by our tournament anglers (annual beach permits are normally $50 residents) and $75 non-residents). These 50 passes will be available at Registration on a first come/first serve basis.

For more information on driving on the beach, as well as info on camping, tents, fires, alcohol, and bathrooms, visit www.atlanticbeach-nc.com or call (252) 726-2121.

Can we drive on the beach in Pine Knoll Shores?
No. Vehicles are not allowed on the beach. For more information on driving on the beach, as well as info on camping, tents, fires, alcohol, and bathrooms, visit www.townofpks.com or call (252) 247-4353.

Can we drive on the beach in Indian Beach?
Yes. Beach driving is allowed from the Tuesday after Labor Day until the Thursday before Memorial Day. Annual permits are $30, and they can be purchased through the Indian Beach Police Department.

For more information on driving on the beach, as well as info on camping, tents, fires, alcohol, and bathrooms, visit www.indianbeach.org or call (252) 247-6700.

What about using the Indian Beach and Salter Path public parking lots after dusk? Don’t they close them?
The Town of Indian Beach is allowing our tournament participants to use their public parking lots throughout the night (and since they monitor the Salter Path parking lot, this invitation includes that parking lot, too), so this year anglers have much greater access to fishing the Indian Beach/Salter Path beach strand.

Can we drive on the beach in Emerald Isle?
Yes. Beach driving is allowed from 5:00 am until 9:00 pm daily from September 15 to October 31 with a permit. Authorized beach access ramps are located at the Ocean Drive “dog-leg” (near mile marker 15 on NC 58), at the end of Black Skimmer Drive (across from the Police Department), and at The Point (at the terminus of Inlet Drive at Bogue Inlet). Permits range from $50-$100, and can be purchased from the Town of Emerald Isle Town Administration Building at 7509 Emerald Drive.

For more information on driving on the beach, as well as info on camping, tents, fires, alcohol, and bathrooms, visit www.emeraldisle-nc.org or call (252) 354-3424.

Last year the Emerald Isle public parking lots closed at dusk so many anglers had to leave the beach—can we get the Town to keep those parking lots open?
Yes. The Town of Emerald Isle is allowing our tournament anglers to use the public parking lots throughout the night, so this year anglers have much greater access to fishing the Emerald Isle beach strand.
