Crystal Coast Surf Fishing Challenge Welcome

October 28 – 30, 2016

WELCOME

Welcome to the 2016 Crystal Coast Surf Fishing Challenge. We’re excited to announce that this is now a fall event, and the early October dates offer our anglers many improvements, including better fishing and greater beach access. In addition, this year we’re enjoying strong support from the local municipalities that are making new efforts to encourage surf anglers to come fish the beachfront from Fort Macon to Bogue Inlet

The Crystal Coast Surf Fishing Challenge mirrors the scheduling format of our other popular surf fishing tournaments, where anglers will stop by our Registration on Friday, check in and grab a wristband, and then go scout out likely spots on the beach. Fishing takes place round-the-clock from midnight on Friday to noon on Sunday, and immediately following the close of fishing will be our Awards Dinner and Awards Ceremony.

Participants this year will be looking to weigh in the heaviest flounder, bluefish, black drum, and/or sea mullet over the course of the event, and the five heaviest of each species will earn their lucky anglers slots on the leaderboard and hefty prize checks. We’ll also be offering a red drum TWT that will reward anglers scaling the top three heaviest reds (in North Carolina’s 18-27” slot) weighed in over the weekend.

We’re particularly excited this year to be featuring Tournament HQ under the big tents in the Chasin’ Tails Outdoors parking lot (in Atlantic Beach). The Lambs and the rest of the Chasin’ Tails family has graciously volunteered the use of their facility over the weekend, so we’ll be setting up shop there for Friday’s Registration and Sunday’s Awards.

Moving Tournament HQ to Atlantic Beach has helped us offer more value and a better experience to our tournament anglers. Pam’s Specialized Catering (a local Newport company) will be providing a full and complimentary Awards Dinner on Sunday, and the Town of Atlantic Beach has donated 50 free passes for our tournament participants to drive on their 4wd beach.

Freeman’s Bait & Tackle and Chasin’ Tails will once again serve as an Atlantic Beach weigh stations over the course of the weekend, and anglers fishing the other end of the island will be relieved to hear that The Reel Outdoors will be our Emerald Isle weigh station.

And if you need another reason to fish Emerald Isle, you’ll be pleased to hear that the Town is inviting our tournament participants to use their public parking lots throughout the night—anglers can more comfortably fish around the clock as they no longer will have to leave these public parking lots at dusk.

In addition, the Town of Indian Beach is also keeping their public parking lots (including the Salter Path public parking lot) open throughout the night for our tournament anglers.

Like all our surf fishing tournaments, the checks and prizes that anglers will be walking away with are only part of the story. The sense of community born out of these events is always a pleasure to see and feel for all involved, and the many anglers who return year after year and plan their vacation time around our surf fishing events would surely agree.

To encourage participants to bring the whole family down to experience that camaraderie firsthand, we’ve got Junior, Senior, and Lady angler prizes, and the heaviest of any of the four eligible species weighed in by those anglers will earn $50 bonus checks.

So check out the sponsors who help make this event possible, load up the family in late October, and come see us at Registration. We’ll be ready to get you in on the action.
