NewBridge Bank Wild King Classic Rules

2012 RULES

  1. This tournament is exclusively for 23 and Under boats. The tournament defines 23 & Under classification by the manufacturer’s advertised specifications.
  2. This is a Captain’s Choice tournament. You must declare whether your day to fish will be Saturday, September 22, or Sunday, September 23, by 7:00 am on Saturday, September 22. You may declare your fish day when you register, or you can call (910) 279-1990 by 7:00 am on Saturday, September 22. If you do not declare your fish day, then Saturday, September 22, will automatically be your fish day.
  3. A boat may participate in the event on only one day. The same boat cannot be fished both Saturday and Sunday. A participant may only be registered as the captain for one day of competition.
  4. King mackerel must adhere to state and federal regulations to qualify for winnings in this tournament.
  5. All fish will be received and inspected by the terms of the weigh master. No cut or mutilated fish will be accepted for weigh-in. Gaff punctures are acceptable.
  6. No check outs. No lines in the water until after 7:00 am. Fish must be caught during tournament hours.
  7. No replacement boats may be entered without clearance from the tournament committee. A replacement boat will not be authorized after tournament fishing hours have begun.
  8. Scales will open at 2:00 pm at Seapath Yacht Club. No weigh-ins allowed before 2:00 pm. The weigh-in line will extend west from the west end of Seapath Yacht Club’s transient dock.
  9. All boats must pass the check-in marks and show their boat number to the check-in person by 5:00 pm. One check-in mark is the 19 Buoy (500 yards to the west of Seapath Yacht Club’s transient dock), and the other check-in mark is the 23 Buoy (1000 yards to the east of Seapath Yacht Club’s transient dock). The check-in person will be on the weigh-in docks at Seapath Yacht Club.
  10. All fish must be weighed in from the boat in which they were caught. No overland transport of fish to weigh station will be allowed.
  11. A boat may not make landfall during tournament competition hours. If a team wishes to drop off a crew member on land before weighing-in, they may do so providing only crew members exit and no items are removed from or added to the vessel.
  12. The tournament will monitor VHF Channel 72. During weigh-in, all boats should monitor the tournament channel to receive instructions.
  13. Only one king mackerel may be weighed from each boat.
  14. Junior anglers must be 15-years-old or younger and accompany fish to the scales. Anyone 15-years-old or younger is automatically considered a junior angler.
  15. Lady anglers must accompany fish to the scales.
  16. Senior anglers must be 59-years-old or older and accompany fish to the scales. Any male 59-years-old or older is automatically considered a senior angler.
  17. Special weight prizes go to the king closest to the designated weight without going over that weight.
  18. Any fish weighed-in found to contain lead or any other foreign matter will be subject to disqualification.
  19. Winning anglers, if directed by the tournament committee, must submit to a polygraph test within 72 hours after the last fish has been weighed. This decision is at the sole discretion of the tournament committee. Should the test be failed or not taken in a timely manner, the tournament committee reserves the right to forfeit all winnings awarded to the winner in question.
  20. All protests made to the tournament committee shall be accompanied by a $250 cash deposit. All protests shall be made no later than one hour after the last fish has been weighed on each weigh-in day. The $250 cash deposit will be returned if the protest is upheld by the tournament committee. The $250 cash deposit will become property of the NewBridge Bank Wild King Classic if the protest is not upheld. All decisions of the tournament committee shall be final.
  21. A boat is eligible to win only one primary prize. A boat is eligible to win more than one secondary prize.
  22. Prizes are awarded solely on the basis of fish weight. In the event of identical weights, the first fish weighed shall be declared the winner.
  23. Two or more boats congregating during fishing hours may be disqualified.
  24. All fish must be caught on rod and reel. The maximum number of lines out at any one time is seven.
  25. Violation of any of the tournament rules shall constitute grounds for automatic disqualification from the tournament. The tournament committee shall be the sole judge of any violations of the rules, and their decision shall be final.
  26. The tournament committee has the right to refuse entry from any applicant. In the event that such occurs, 100% of the applicant’s entry fee will be returned.
  27. By signing the entry form, the captain and crew, etc. consent that the NewBridge Bank Wild King Classic may use without payment or restrictions any photographs in which he or she appears for any purpose whatsoever, including but not limited to resale, advertising, commercial, or promotional material.
