Cape Hatteras Anglers Club Invitational
Despite the travel-limiting effects of Hurricane Sandy, the Cape Hatteras Anglers Club Invitational Surf Fishing Tournament went on as scheduled November 8-9.
The winning teams are as follows: 1st place: Team Blue Shoe, Capt. Larry Easterwood; 2nd place: Team Tri-Village Anglers, Capt. Stanley Steeley; and 3rd place: Team Kinnakeet’s Luring Ladies, Capt. Verna Antonen.
The Session winners are as follows: First Session—Singing the Blues; No Second Session; Third Session—Backlash; and Fourth Session—Queen Mackeral.
The tournament was immediately followed by the Bob Bernard Individual Tournament on November 10, and the leaderboard ended as follows: Dave Deaner with a 3 lb., 3/4 oz. black drum; Greg Erwin with an 8 oz. bluefish; Robert Davis with a 2 lb., 8 oz. flounder; Watson Thomas with a 3 lb., 10 oz. red drum; Karen Baker/Mike Conrad tied with a 1 lb. sea mullet; and Tyler Daley with a 1 lb., 15 oz. speckled trout.
