Mark Dickson, at Shallow Minded Guide Fishing, reports good fishing is around the corner if mother nature will calm the winds down. Plenty of redfish and flounder are being caught in Little River lately, and the jetties are a good place to start fishing live baits for either species.
Some stripers were even caught lately while flounder fishing in the waterway. They would hit bucktails and grubs but preferred the color white. Most of the fish were around 3 lbs., but there was a big 15 pounder caught. The bite only lasted while the tide was at its highest.

Patrick Kelly, at Captain Smiley’s Fishing Charters, reports good fishing should follow as the wind settles. Finding a spot out of the northeast wind has been about the only productive way to fish recently. He’s been able to find good catches of flounder in Dunn Sound, around the waterway docks, and at the Sunset Beach Bridge. Any live bait has been working well.
Croakers and whiting are also moving around in the waterway, and they’re biting cut shrimp.
Redfish are roaming around the shallows (when you can get on them), and a good place to start is Dunn Sound.

Ann, at Cherry Grove Pier, reports some big, citation flounder recently caught, with one going six pounds and another weighing in around seven pounds. A 29 lb. 7 oz. king mackerel was caught just after Labor Day. Speckled trout have begun to arrive, and bluefish are still all over. In addition, the bottom fishing has been decent for whiting.
