Mark, at Shallow Minded Guide Fishing, reports “world class” speckled trout fishing the last few weeks. The trout are averaging 2-4 pounds and are being caught around Coquina Harbor, Sunset Beach Bridge, and the Little River jetties. The trout fishing should continue as long as water temperatures stay reasonable, which should last the rest of the year before it’s time to switch to skinny water red fishing.

While fishing the waterway, there have been numerous stripers in the 1-5 pound range being caught floating live baits out for the trout.

A few flounder are still hanging around, and they are hitting live baits that get to the bottom. Reds are being caught around the Sunset Beach Bridge and the jetties.

Shrimp can be caught in the back of the creeks for a little while longer, but they are thinning out. Then it will be all artificial fishing.

Patrick, at Captain Smiley’s Fishing Charters, reports that the redfish and trout bite has been excellent recently. The reds are 15-33 inches and being caught around Fort Randall, Sunset Beach Bridge, and Dunn Sound on Gulps and live baits.

There were 1,000 redfish recently stocked in the sound by the state, and they ranged from 12-14.25 inches. A total of 250 of these fish have been tagged, and one has already been caught and released.

These stocked fish will stay all winter, and they should boost the winter fishing in the skinny water.

Speckled trout are keying on live shrimp moving out of the creeks and can be caught around Mullet Creek, Bonaparte Creek, the Little River jetties, and Coquina Harbor. Water temperatures are in the low 60’s, so fishing should continue to be good well into December.
