The Rod n Reel Shop of Holden Beach, reports dolphin dominated the gulf stream catches hitting cigar minnows and ballyhoo with a few wahoo, blackfin tuna, and yellowfin tuna as well. The surf fishing has been fairly good with flounder to 18 inches and bluefish in the 6 to 10 lb. class hitting cut bait and hopkins spoons. Other notable catches in the surf were a 4.7 lb pomano weighed in and a 5.9 lb. black drum.

Ocean Isle Beach Pier, reports good catches of bluefish with occasional runs of spanish mackerel on plugs. Speckled trout have made a showing now and then and more keeper flounder are being caught. The bottom fishermen are catching whiting with spots and pompano mixed in.
