Rod and Reel Shop of Holden Beach, reports good flounder fishing in the Lockwoods Folly and Shallotte Rivers while surf fishing has a mixed bag of fish right now with pompano, bluefish, black drum, and a few whiting. The piers are getting spanish mackerel, bluefish on plugs, trout on live shrimp, and flounder on the bottom. Nearshore anglers are catching spanish mackerel while trolling as well as very small kings around 26 to 28 inches so be sure to identify the difference before tossing it in the cooler. No cobia to report but gulf stream has been hot with dolphin and wahoo but no tuna to speak of.

Ocean Isle Beach Pier, reports lots of bluefish with the occasional trout or spanish mackerel by the pluggers. Bottom fishing there have been some whiting as well as pompano. Sand fleas are along the beach to use for them. There have been some keeper flounder to speak of as well on minnows.
