Patrick Kelly, of Captain Smiley’s Fishing Charters, reports that flounder fishing is still good in the Little River area, but the red drum bite has slowed somewhat. Almost all of the fish are hitting either live mud minnows or live pogies this time of year. Just off the beach, the Jim Caudle Reef is producing black sea bass, bluefish, and spanish mackerel.

Ann, at Cherry Grove Pier, reports some nice catches this week, with a 6 lb. flounder weighed in as well as a 10 lb. sheepshead. A 14 and 23 lb. king mackerel were caught off the end, while those bottom fishing got into some 4 lb. black drum. There was even a 2 lb. 9 oz. spadefish caught. Finally, whiting and spots fill out the catches this week.
