Patrick Kelly, of Captain Smiley’s Fishing Charters, reports the flounder are keeping him busy in the Tubbs Inlet vicinity. Fish are getting bigger with a 5.5 lb. flounder taken this past week. Plenty of small menhaden have shown up to fish which or they are still hitting mud minnows as well with a better bite on the rising tide. Speckled trout are still being caught in the same areas with most fish being around 13 inches but a few 3 to 4 lb. fish are also being caught. A few red drum are around as well to offer some sight fishing opportunities.

Cherry Grove Pier, reports a very busy weekend with king mackerel. 7 kings were landed over the weekend with a 38 pounder leading the way and four more in the 20 pound class. Flounder also bit well with fish ranging up to around 3 lbs. Blues and spanish were hitting the plugs while spadefish, pompano, and a few sheepshead rounded out the catches.
