Patrick, at Captain Smiley’s Fishing Charters, reports an excellent redfish bite at the Little River jetties drifting live menhaden on the bottom. They have included some over-the-slot fish, with sizes running in the 24 to 29 inch range.

Anglers are urged to be cautious fishing the jetties because big swells are hitting the shoals, especially on a falling tide, and catching boaters off guard.

Speckled trout are also biting around the rocks on live shrimp and Berkley Gulps.

Sunset Beach Bridge has been productive for redfish and flounder on live pogies as well.

Mark, at Shallow Minded Guide Fishing, reports good catches of over-the-slot redfish at the jetties in Little River Inlet. The best way to catch them is drifting live bait through the schools so other boats also get a shot at hooking up.

The jetties are also holding some speckled trout in the 15 to 20 inch range on live shrimp.

The Sunset Beach Bridge has been productive for both reds and trout.

Now is a perfect time for inshore slams with flounder also biting well in the Tubbs Inlet area.

Nearshore there are spadefish on the Sherman Wreck biting pieces of jelly balls. The cobia are still around; however, many of the recent ones caught have been undersized.

Spanish mackerel are being caught trolling spoons just outside the inlet and along the area beaches.
