Capt. Patrick Kelly, of Captain Smiley’s Fishing Charters, reports very good red drum fishing taking place in the inlets and creeks. Reds up to 28 lbs. are being caught on live bait and artificials. Flounder have also picked up in the Little River area, with consistent catches of 2 to 3 pounders. The biggest recently weighed in at 5.5 lbs. The spots are also biting very well for those in the surf and off the pier.

Capt. Mark Dickson, of Shallow Minded Guide Fishing, reports redfishing was providing most of the action before the rains came. It has slowed a bit, but should pick back up as the water cleans up. The waterway has even provided some action with stripers. Most fish are running 2 to 4 lbs., with an occasional 7 or 8 pounder being caught. Before the rains messed things up, there were also solid catches of flounder, speckled trout, and black drum.

Ann, at Cherry Grove Fishing Pier, reports the spots have arrived and are getting most of the attention. A few anglers are still catching some pompano, whiting, and bluefish. The few guys that are still fishing with mullet are getting an occasional flounder. Also, no big runs off the end since the storms came in.
