Mark Dickson, at Shallow Minded Guide Fishing, reports excellent fishing is taking place, especially for red drum. There are 12 to 30 lb. reds being caught on the Little River jetties on mullet and live shrimp.
Smaller reds in the 16 to 20 inch range are biting well around oyster bars in most creeks.
And a few flounder have been caught, as well as one nice speck, but the redfishing is too good to fish for anything else.

Patrick Kelly, at Captain Smiley’s Fishing Charters, reports the best fishing of the year has started up after about three days of calm weather following Ophelia. Red drum fishing is on fire anywhere from Little River Inlet back into the tidal creeks. The fish are running 15 to 30 inches and are hitting mullet, shrimp, and even Gulp artificials.
The jetty is yielding the first of the fall run of bull reds as well, with fish over 15 lbs.
Drifting the inlet for flounder has been productive for smaller 14 inch fish, with a few 3 to 4 pounders mixed in.
And there’s plenty of bluefish and spanish mackerel to be caught in the inlet and just off the beach.

Ann, at Cherry Grove Pier, reports good king action over the weekend with 14, 25, and 27 lb. kings landed. A 17 lb. 8 oz. barracuda was also hooked and landed.
Flounder fishing has picked up on live baits, with most all of the fish being keeper size. Bottom fishing has been good for bluefish, whiting, and pompano.
