Brant, at Ocean Isle Fishing Center, reports steady fishing offshore in spite of the hot weather.

King mackerel are biting the best in the 80 to 100 foot areas, with plenty of big menhaden along the Brunswick beaches for bait.

Grouper have begun to move inshore to the 70 to 90 foot depths, with most of the catches being gags.

Very few dolphin or sailfish have been caught this week, but the barracudas are thick on most wrecks and ledges.

Closer in, the spanish mackerel are thick along the beach and anywhere you can find the bait balls of glass minnows.

Kyle, at the Ocean Isle Fishing Center, reports inshore fishing has been decent despite the hot weather. Water temperatures are around 88, with it getting as hot as 91 degrees recently.

Redfish are hitting live mullet or pogies around docks and bridges in the ICW. The bite at the jetty has been slow this week.

A few random speckled trout are being caught on the inside by those live baiting.

Flounder are being caught on live bait inside in the waterway and in the area rivers, as well as outside on the nearshore structures such as the Jim Caudle Reef.

Hannah, at Ocean Isle Pier, reports hot water and slow fishing, but whiting and spots are biting shrimp.

Flounder are biting live minnows on the bottom, but they have been on the small side lately.

Trout are biting on live shrimp and DOA shrimp lures.

The water is a tepid 87 degrees.
