Brant, at Ocean Isle Fishing Center, reports the best week of king mackerel fishing so far until east winds shut the bite down. The kings were holding in 50 to 70 foot of water, and plenty of fish in the 30’s were taken as well as some over 40.
Spanish are thick along the beach, and the big kings are not far behind. Scattered menhaden schools are along Oak Island and Holden.
Further offshore in 120 to 600 foot of water the catches have been small dolphin and sailfish.

Will, at Ocean Isle Beach Pier, reports the pier has been seeing flounder, speckled trout, and mostly whiting come over the rails this week. Sheepshead are around and being caught on sand fleas. Off the beach, the charter boat had some nice days with king mackerel, dolphin, and spanish mackerel.

Hunter, at The Rod and Reel Shop, reports that messy offshore conditions kept boats in, but earlier in the week some wahoo were reported from the 18 mile area. The usual catch of kings and occasional dolphin are nearshore as well.
Inside there have been some flounder caught, while in the surf the bite has been spots, whiting, and croakers.
