Rhett, from Ocean Isle Fishing Center, reports that the fishing has been rough and the water’s muddy. Recent storms have left lots of freshwater inshore. Besides the poor conditions, there have been sizable king mackerel, amberjack, and barracuda caught offshore. Spanish mackerel are picking up in the surf. The best times are early morning, and they’re biting Clark spoons. A few red fish have been caught around the jetty at the river’s mouth.

Howard, from Ocean Isle Beach Pier, reports that fishing has been slow since the storm. The levels of freshwater have been the main factor for the fishing slump. Although, there have been limits on flounder caught just offshore. Also, 4 to 5 lb. spanish have been biting live shrimp in the surf.
