Redd, at Yaupon Pier, reports that the pier’s best action has been flounder. Guys have been picking them up on mullet, and the bite has been on and off all day (no particular time or tide seems to be better). They are also picking up some 3-4 pound spanish by light lining mullet. Not much on trout and no kings, but they did pull in a jack crevalle on Saturday. It hit a live bluefish on a king rig.

Jimmy Price, of Wildlife Bait and Tackle, reports that flounder are moving around the area. They are being caught at the Southport waterfront, Snow’s Cut, the Cape Fear River, and Yaupon and McGlammery Reefs. Sheepshead and black drum are still at Phizer’s, and red drum are in all the area creeks
The spanish bite continues to do well, which is odd for this time of year. Normally they’ve moved out when it’s been this hot, but guys are still picking up nice-sized ones. The king bite in the area has also been excellent. Big kings have been caught everyday from right on the beach, the river channel, and the area’s reefs.
