Dave, at Ocean Crest Pier, reports flounder fishing is still very strong and fish are beginning to bite into the night. This should continue with the full moon. Live mullet are producing fish averaging 2 to 5 lbs. A few speckled trout are being caught very early on live shrimp. Bluefish are biting very well on gotcha plugs, and bottom fishermen are seeing the fall variety of fish, including whiting, spots, and red and black drum. No kings lately, but the water is very clear.

Tommy, at Long Beach Pier, reports nice flounder catches with fish running 1.5 to 4.5 lbs. Live mullet or bucktails in the surf are getting bites. The spots being caught are big but anglers are only seeing 6 to 12 fish days. Nice whiting are being landed, as well as a couple of trout, on the bottom. There have been a few spanish, but they should be moving on. A 12 lb. king mackerel was also recently landed on the pier.

Captain Flick, at Blue Water Point Marina, reports king mackerel have been pretty hot just off the beach and in the river channel, with some charters limiting out. The 15 mile areas have also been producing fairly well. Bottom fishing for beeliners, blacks, and groupers is producing nice fish, and they are running just over 30 miles to reach the holes.

Billie, at Dutchman Creek Bait and Tackle, reports spots are beginning to show with boat fishermen having nice catches in the river and a few in the waterway. The Cape Fear River is also producing puppy drum, a few gray trout, and black drum. Yaupon Reef has been hot with both king mackerel and flounder.
