Standard Issue Epoxy Jigs

Just in time for the spring arrival of nearshore pelagics like Atlantic bonito, false albacore, and spanish mackerel, Hogy Lures’ Standard Issue Tackle has reinvented a modern classic lure with the new Epoxy Jig.

Featuring all the fish-attracting flash of the discontinued Maria Jig, the new lures employ upgraded hardware and a through-wire construction that improves upon its predecessor.

The lures have a vivid, holographic scale-finish core surrounded by a double coat of epoxy that refracts light naturally and perfectly mimics the translucence of an anchovy or other “rain bait,” a tough task for the opaque slabs of metal that make up the bodies of most other casting jigs. Textured gills and fins along with a pair of bright 3D eyes enhance the fish-attracting realism.

The twin layers of epoxy also add durability to the finish, so anglers needn’t replace lures with chipped paint or peeling reflective tape when casting for toothy targets like bluefish, bonito, and mackerel.

Through-wire construction continues the durability theme and ensures fish won’t be lost to hooks pulling out of the lure. A super-sharp 3X Strong VMC Treble hook connects to the wire frame via a stainless steel split ring to further enhance the lure’s ability to hook and hold the fish that the Epoxy Jigs attract.

A balanced lead core gives the lure a realistic action at medium to fast retrieves, ideal for run-and-gun casting to fish on the surface, but don’t mistake the Epoxy Jig for merely a casting lure—it’s offered in sizes up to 4 oz. to give bottom and vertical jiggers something new to show their favorite target species as well.

Five more sizes ranging down to a 3/8 oz., 2.5” model allow anglers to “match the hatch” to the size of baitfish their quarry are keying in on, often vital to success with picky eaters like spanish mackerel, false albacore, and bonito.

In addition to the five sizes, anglers can select from six brilliant colors of the new lures to tailor their presentations as precisely as possible.
