Charles, at Surf City Pier, reports that blues have been the main action. They’ve been landing plenty of .75 to 1 pound blues both on plugs and bottom fishing.
With the recent rough water, the puppy drum bite improved. They landed about 10 in a three day period, with two of the fish weighing in the 7 pound class.
Otherwise, it’s been a few small pompano.

Eric, at New River Marina, reports fishing has been good if you can fight the wind. Redfish and flounder are biting live mullet very well in the river and waterway. Speckled trout are beginning to eat again, and lots of gray trout are being caught in the area. Nearshore reefs will hold plenty of grays to jig up in the coming months.
A few spots are beginning to run, and the sheepshead and black drum bite is still good around bridge pilings using crabs or barnacles as bait.

Frank, at Seaview Pier, reports that all the northeast winds have triggered some fall fishing. A little of everything was caught off the pier this week with good runs of red drum of all sizes.
Flounder catches are more common with plenty of mullet running the surf. Bluefish and spanish mackerel are reappearing. Spots and whiting are being caught on the bottom rigs. The best sign that fall is coming is the speckled and gray trout beginning to come by the pier.
