Lewis, at Bug em Bait Co., reports gulf stream fishing very good on dolphin with a few wahoo and blackfins. Nearshore the cobia are the news with fish on most of the wrecks and outside Masonboro inlet. Flounder are moving in on the nearshore reefs. King mackerel are getting bigger nearshore in the 10 to 20 mile areas on live or dead cigar minnows. Spanish fishing continues to be good with bluefish mixed in. Red drum are also moving around and eating in the creeks off the waterway. Surf fishing has been good with pompano, bluefish, and whiting.

Seth, at Intracoastal Angler, reports redfishing is picking up at the mouth of bigger creeks with the best luck coming on crab or mudminnow imitations if fly fishing. Flounder fishing is picking up with good reports from the Pages creek area. The river was good for both flounder and reds but it will need to settle with all the rain from last week. Spanish are still biting fairly well on outgoing tide at Masonboro inlet. The only speckled trout reports have been from up in the New River. Snake kings are still nearshore hitting clown yo-zuri plugs. Gulf stream had a few billfish to report mostly sailfish and white marlin. A few wahoo are being taken early in the morning but the hot bite is dolphin in the 20 to 30 lb. range.

Tex, at Tex’s Tackle reports the gulf stream is very hot in terms of dolphin fishing. There are still some tuna and wahoo mixed in. Nearshore the spanish and blues are still tearing it up along the beach with bigger spanish mackerel around 40 feet of water. Bigger kings are moving nearshore in the 10 to 25 mile range and cobia will be in the same locations as well as around the inlets. Bottom fishing for grouper and seabass is taking place around the 18-40 miles out. Inshore the sheepshead have moved in as well as the bigger flounder coming in from the ocean. Even some ladyfish are beginning to show at the Masonboro jetty. Drum fishing is improving both on live and artificial baits in the waterway and in shallow creeks.

Johnnie Mercers Fishing Pier reports bluefish biting gotchas in the mornings but spanish fishing has slowed. A nice 58 inch, 61 lb. Cobia was landed but other than that a few sharks on the king rigs. A few whiting are being caught and bottom rigs with shrimp is catching blues and pigfish.
