Bruce, at Flat Dawg Charters, reports good catches of spanish mackerel on the beach. Big bluefish are still hanging around inshore hitting live baits. The flounder action has been good but fish are still running small. Best spots have been in the inlet and along the beach on structure. The river has been slow lately. Plenty of bait around so the bigger fish will keep moving in.

Kure Beach Pier reports blues, Cobia, and a few Spanish being caught on or near the end of the pier. No kings have been caught yet. Water temps are near 70.

Gulfstream…..The Mahi Mahi are biting Strong around Same’Ol with a few Yellowfin and Wahoo mixed in. As the offshore water continue to warm the Mahi will move closer and closer to shore. Reports have small Mahi within 20 miles. Rigged Ballyhoo on small skirts with do the trick for these fun fish.

Offshore….Mahi Mahi and King Mackerel are both on the move. Starting near the Gulfstream moving in to the inshore waters. All the schoolie King Mackerels you can catch are from the Dredge wreck to WR-4 and beyond. The King Kings have been elusive thus far with only a few caught in this past weeks tournament.

Inshore….BIG Spanish Mackerel are coming form the area inlets and rocks. The standard in 2 lbs and over. These are really nice fish. 00 Clark Spoons down deep will do the trick on these fun to catch fish. Bluefish have been plentiful as well. When you get on some of these area Rocks the Blues will hit about anything that moves.

Offshore Bottom….The main part of the Grouper Population is still way offshore and DEEP but they should be moving this way any time now. If you go….go deep. Squid, Cigar Minnows and Cutbait always do the trick. Gags have been caught as close as 15 miles but finding a keeper has been tough. Most of these fish have been just under size. Reds and Scamps are chewing on out with some really nice fish coming from the high 30’s.

Inshore Bottom….Flounder have made their move and ready to feed. Lots of nice sized fish coming from the area rocks and inlets. Time your fishing to the falling tide and use live bait to catch these tasty critters. Black Sea bass are always around on the near shore rocks and ledges. 3-4 lbs have been pretty common. Squid and Cutbait will always make these guys hungry.
