Crocker’s Marine Owners’ Tournament 2006

On Saturday, July 29, Crocker’s Marine of Wrightsville Beach held its annual Customer’s Tournament.

Top honors for dolphin went to Greg Eflin for a 13.3 lb. fish. Lindsey Eflin caught a 13.0 lb. dolphin to snare second place.

Brian Dillon caught the first place adult king mackerel at 11.55 lbs. Brian Bevel caught a 7.90 lb. king good for second. Garrett Powell secured first place in the children’s king mackerel division with a 10.85 lb. fish. Jonathan Powell caught a 5.10 lb. king good for second.

A 3.5 lb. spanish mackerel put Tim Safley in first place for adults in that category. Second went to Frank Flynn for a 1.9 lb. spanish. Blair Lions’ 1.35 lb. spanish secured first place in the children’s division. A 1.20 lb. spanish mackerel scored second place for Gavin Owen.

In the flounder category, Jason Cummings caught a 2.45 lb. fish to win first, and Tracy Murden captured second with a 1.85 flatfish. Will Austin beat the adults, weighing a 2.65 lb. fish.

Molly Smith and David Braton tied for first place bluefish with two .95 lb. blues. The winning children’s bluefish was also a .95 pounder, caught by Michael Dillon. Katherine Marapese caught a .10 lb. blue to finish second.

A red drum weighing 3.4 lbs. gave Mike Braton first place in that category, and Dean Stockton caught a 2.85 lb. drum to finish second.

The only adult to weigh a blackfish was Charlie Winterbauer, with a .90 lb. tautog. Chase Peterson caught a .50 lb. blackfish to win first place for kids. Paul Arvidson’s .20 lb. fish put him in second place.

Chase Peterson won the highly contested kids pinfish division with a .45 lb. pin. Hunter Womble had a close second with a .40 lb. fish.

Carrisa Womble topped the kids croaker category with a .60 pounder. Chase Peterson placed second with a .35 lb. croaker.

Sophia Warren was the kids pigfish winner. She weighed a .50 lb. fish. Mason Denius was right behind her with a .40 lb. pig.

In the kids spot category, Mason Denius weighed a .30 lb. spot, scoring first place. Carissa Womble was right behind Mason with a .25 lb. fish.

Eric White and Paul Arvidson each weighed a .15 lb. Virginia mullet; however, Eric weighed his fish earlier, so he received the first place plaque.
