Ocean Isle Beach Pier, reports good catches of spanish mackerel and bluefish on gotcha plugs with the spanish ranging 14 to 17 inches. A few speckled trout were caught Monday morning on cut squid. Whiting, spots, and pompano have also been caught while the flounder have mostly been too small to keep.

Rod and Reel Shop of Holden Beach, reports flounder fishing picking up with more keepers this week. Out of 12 fish 3 or 4 will be legal size. In the surf the pompano are eating sand fleas and there are still some whiting as well. Bluefish are along the beach and spanish mackerel are in 30 to 35 feet of water with snake kings mixed in with them. Offshore the dolphin and wahoo catches have been excellent with a few yellowfins and blackfin tunas as well.
