Bobby, at Long Beach Pier, reports great catches of spanish mackerel up to 4 lbs. as well as bluefish both on plugs. The king fishermen are still waiting on a king but a 30 lb. cobia was caught and some chopper bluefish. If you can get your hands on live shrimp you can have an excellent day with the speckled trout. Flounder fishing has been slower this week but they should keep getting bigger. Pompano have also arrived and some whiting are still being caught.

Dave, at Ocean Crest Pier, reports the big hatteras bluefish invaded the pier this past weekend with fish in the 7 to 12 lb. class. Also out on the end the Cobia kept anglers busy including a 54 lb. fish which was caught by Jerry Price and is the piers largest ever. A couple kings have been caught around 8 to 10 lbs but no smokers yet. Flounder are being caught with a few 2 to 3 pounders and they are eating live mullet or mud minnows. There was a nice 2+ lb. speckled trout caught and the whiting are still biting as well with several over a pound. Plugs are still catching the smaller blues and spanish mackerel.
