Hunter, at The Rod and Reel Shop, reports good catches of flounder averaging 16 to 17 inches. A few over-the-slot red drum have been reported caught and released in the area. The surf is alive again with bluefish, and a few spots are beginning to bite. Not many reports from offshore due to the weather, but the spanish and kings are biting well just off the beach, especially outside area inlets.

Will, at Ocean Isle Beach Pier, reports sporadic catches of spanish mackerel on top and flounder on the bottom on live bait. The bottom rigs are catching whiting and a few spots. Speckled trout are around, and they shouldn’t pass up live shrimp.
