Decrease Font Size Increase Font Size Text Size Print This Page

The new PENN Squall II Star Drag reels, designed to meet the rigors of hard-hitting saltwater species from the surf or the boat, are being upgraded with angler-friendly features.

Lightweight and quick on the retrieve, the PENN Squall II Star Drag reels are made even more castable thanks to a revolutionary Live Spindle design and free-floating spool. Equipped with a high-strength, marine-grade bronze alloy main gear and PENN’s proprietary Fast Gear Access Sideplate, the gears and drag system can be quickly accessed for service, making this reel more angler friendly than ever.

At the heart of the PENN Squall II Star Drag reels is a Versa-Drag system with HT-100 washers that give the reel a smooth drag that wears down fish while minimizing impact on the line. Ultra-smooth thanks to its 6+1 shielded, stainless-steel ball bearings system, the reels are ideal for surf fishing and light-duty offshore fishing. The 15CS (Casting Special) model also features upgraded spool bearings and a knob mag dial for the ultimate in control while casting.

The Squall II Star Drag series is available in five sizes, ranging from Sizes 12 to 40. All configurations of the new PENN Squall II reels are available in both right- and left-handed models and have an MSRP of $149.95 to $169.95.
