Product Review – Vudu Shrimp

Shrimp have finally begun to move into the rivers, estuaries, and marshes of coastal North Carolina, and this presence of shrimp moving in triggers the bite of several inshore species such as red drum, speckled trout, and flounder, among many others.

Although live bait works well, especially live shrimp, typically finding live shrimp and catching an adequate amount before the sun comes up and the bite falls off is quite the challenge. Luckily, there is no need to fret about wasting time finding bait with the new line of artificial Vudu Shrimp colors that are fresh off the factory floor.

Vudu has long been a staple in producing some of the most productive soft plastics on the market and are known for their revolutionary-designed shrimp. The Vudu shrimp offers strategically designed tails that pop as the rod tip is twitched, while the heads of the lures feature a weighted jig head that slowly sinks the head of the bait much like a live shrimp does when moving along the bottom.

Two sizes of these pre-rigged baits are offered within the newly released colors for this year, a two-inch and four-inch lure. The two-inch shrimp features a 1/16 oz. jig head sporting a 2/0 J hook and is now available in Cajun Pepper Chartreuse, Tiger, Bayou Brew, and Creole Magic. The four-inch shrimp comes standard with a 1/4 oz. jig head armed with a 3/0 J hook and is now featured in Creole Magic and Bloody Mary.

These trustworthy, durable, and lifelike lures are gamechangers for targeting inshore species throughout North Carolina. By turning to an artificial lure, anglers can save the hassle and struggle of catching bait and spend more prime fishing time in their most productive areas.

Vudu Shrimp are sold in packs of two, retail for around $7.00/pack, and can be found at your local tackle shop.
