Chris, at East Coast Sports, reports that the piers are seeing kings, blues, and spanish early in the morning. The best plan may be to tie up some gold hook rigs for the spanish.

In the surf from New River Inlet to Surf City there have been a few mullet. Below Surf City the surf has been producing a few specks and flounder. And Lee Island continues to hold redfish.

The flounder bite has improved in the inshore waters in the area. The best action has been coming from targeting docks.

Off the beach, there have been some nice weed lines between 23 Mile Rock and AR-368. This area has been holding plenty of bailer-sized dolphin. The sizes aren’t big, but there have been plenty to be caught.

King fishermen have been finding lots of them at the D Buoy.

There has also been a good king bite (as well as a few dolphin and some sails) at 23 Mile Rock.

Ricky, at Speckled Specialist Charters, reports that the redfishing is on fire in the waterway. Double digit catches have become the norm in the area with the abundance of shrimp moving around. Live shrimp, mullet, or artificial shrimp have all been successful baits.

There are also some speckled trout being caught in the waterway and the river using the same tactics as the redfish.

And a few flounder have been caught this week in the same areas.

Eric, at New River Marina, reports that everything is biting in the area. Speckled trout and redfish continue bite well in the river and the waterway hitting both live and artificial baits.

Flounder fishing is getting better as more mullet move around.

Black drum and sheepshead continue to be caught around the bridges and pilings on clams and crabs.

Spanish and kings are biting well off the beach, with dolphin not too far offshore and being caught as well.

Terry, at Surf City Pier, reports an excellent variety of fish caught this week. Live minnows are producing flounder up to 4 pounds.

A 5 pound trout was weighed this week.

Anglers fishing cut bait on bottom rigs have caught several slot-size red drum.

Black drum and sheepshead from 3 to 5 pounds are biting sand fleas.

Some spanish have been caught on diamond jigs. There’s lots of spanish jumping, but they have been reluctant to bite.

Garrison Lore (age 9) caught 15 and 20 pound king mackerel early in the week.

Bill, at Sea View Pier, reports that cooler temperatures for most of the week produced a good variety of fish biting.

Anglers are catching spots and whiting on bottom rigs baited with fresh shrimp. Some keeper flounder are also biting the bottom rigs.

Black and red drum have been caught this week.

Plug casters are catching some spanish mackerel and bluefish. The spanish are also coming over the rails on diamond jig/gold hook rigs.

No kings were caught this week.
